Description: Early 19th Century Original Oil Painting of Van Dyck’s Rest on the Flight into Egypt Old Master Apprentice Signed "Van Dyck Weir"The painting shows the Holy Family fleeing to Egypt to save the life of Jesus. There are penciled writings on the back of the frame which are hard to make out but probably give a clue to it's origin. Old repair on mid left back of oil. Age crazing and surface dirt on the oil painting. 30.5" x 27" - Frame SizeOld gold gilt frame condition is poor and probably from the early 1900's. This painting definitely deserves a proper frame. From memory - This oil painting is from the Indiana estate sale. Relatives of the estate owners stated it had been in the family for years but didn't know where their grandparents or great grandparents had purchased or inherited the oil painting from. I acquired this oil painting in 1998 from one of my relatives.
