Description: This is a SET of TWO pieces of completely unique Trinidadian art. One rectangular piece measures 4" x 6" (4 3/4" x 6 3/4" with rope frame) and One round piece measures 6.5" in diameter (7.5" with rope frame)Both are around 1/2" in height Both are signed "Talib." but I can't find any history of the artist online. The art of copper repousse is designs hammered into relief and has been used by indigenous groups for generations. Traditionally, copper was shaped into animal and human figures, much like this piece which in both cases features men on a seemingly tropical island (probably Trinidad) along with primates. See images for specifics. The rectangular piece includes a stand so it can sit on a shelf and the circular piece has a hanger on the back. Both are in excellent condition since they have sat on a shelf or a wall their whole life. Compare pricing on these - this is a very good value given the price.
