Description: If you're an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don't think you'll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere -- hundreds of listings each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping "gee whiz" gadgetry in exceptional original condition. And don't forget, you can click this link to quickly add and then save me to your favorite seller list and Ebay will automatically send you updates when I put similar new listings online. Here's a beautiful Columbia B cylinder phonograph with a 10" nickel horn. The phonograph is ruggedly built (the "B" was the mechanical foundation of most Columbia coin-operated phonographs) yet it's small enough to fit just about anywhere.Condition is excellent throughout. The cabinet decal is original, and it's still crisp and colorful, with minimal wear. The cabinet finish is also original, and it's still smooth to the touch. No significant finish wear, no chipped or damaged veneer. Large diaphragm floating reproducer is in excellent condition, with a good stylus, and it sounds great. The mechanism is original throughout, and it too is in good shape. Motor and gearing are in good working order, the governor keeps the mandrel spinning at a steady speed. The 10" nickel horn is a replica from The Phonograph Shop here in NC. It's almost indistinguishable from an original horn, except that unlike most original nickel horns, it doesn't look like it just dragged up from the bottom of a lake. The winding key is original, and it's in good shape.Overall, an excellent little "Eagle" that's great for playing almost all types of cylinders, particularly early brown wax records. I'll include a 2-minute cylinder with the phonograph so it will be ready to play as soon as it arrives. If you get tired of listening to the cylinder, there are plenty of other titles available on ebay and elsewhere. The machine plays Edison and Columbia cylinders, along with those made by Oxford, Lakeside, etc. And if you're not already familiar with how to operate an early cylinder phonograph, don't worry. I'll provide you with simple, easy to understand set-up instructions, so you'll be able to use it within minutes after you unpack it and put it together. I'm one of ebay's best known and most highly regarded sellers of antique phonographs. I've been selling and shipping the world's nicest antique phonographs for more than 20 years. When you purchase an antique phonograph from me, you'll receive a phonograph that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a farm tool), and you'll receive a phonograph that includes thorough but easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions, so you won't be left scratching your head, trying to figure out how it works. Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how it works or how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
