It was struck at the Melbourne mint in 1939 while Australia was fighting World War II, during the reign of King George VI. This type .925 fine or Sterling silver Florin was struck for Australia each year from 1938 through 1945. In 1946 the silver content was lowered to just .500 fine. The 1938 date had the second lowest mintage with 2,990,000 coins, most dates had 10 million or more with the 1944 topping out at 22,440,000. Weight: 11.21 Grams, 28.5 Millimeters, .925 Silver.
