During the 1940s the Packard Manufacturing Company used locks from two different companies - Bell Lock and the Chicago Lock Company. The 5/8 inch locks were used both as coin box locks in the Manhattan and the PlaMor and as locks on the BUTLER wall box. The latter application also included a large fender washer.The key code on the Bell series is 1P #### and on the Chicago series it is PA ###. The Chicago locks had pot metal cylinders which are occasionally found swelled and tight, and they shatter when pushed out of the barrel. The Bell locks do not have this problem.The lock offered here is from the Chicago PA series.The distance from the inside edge of the front to the face of the cam is about 5/8 of one inch.This is a good lock that works well with the original key that is included.
