Description: Rookie card for HOF receiver, Don Hutson, graded SGC authentic as it appears the top of the card has been trimmed. Card has a crease lower right corner. This is the only vintage issue to ever feature the greatest receiver of the 1930s and 1940s. At the beginning, many football scouts questioned Don Hutson's ability to succeed at the professional level due to his lanky build. The former All-American from Alabama quickly erased any doubt. As a member of the Green Bay Packers, Hutson led the league in receiving in eight of his 11 seasons. In fact, at the time of his retirement, Hutson held 18 NFL records. This two-time NFL MVP (1941 and 1942) finished his career with 99 touchdowns, 488 career receptions and 7,991 receiving yards. Hutson's career touchdown mark stood for more than 40 years, and his career reception total was nearly double that of his closest rival. Hutson also played kicker and safety, intercepting 30 passes in his career. With his unique combination of kicking and receiving talents, Hutson would lead the league in scoring for five straight seasons (1941-45). Hutson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963. While Jerry Rice, statistically, is considered the greatest receiver in NFL history, many experts feel Hutson was more dominating during his era. This card, which is a tough short print, is difficult to find well-centered.
