After graduating in 1920, he continued his apprenticeship in his father's studio. In 1924, he participated in his first Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition), and from then on, he exhibited there every year. He became an associate member of the Nihon Bijutsuin (Japan Art Institute) in 1930 and a full member in 1936.
