Description: 2024 SARRACENIA SEEDS: FAT MITCHELLIANA X LEGACY [CARNIVOROUS PLANT SEED] Code: 21: 24HH03 This listing includes: One pack of approximately 30 Sarracenia seeds from the following cross: Mother (pod) plant: S. Fat Mitchelliana “Big Bertha” My 10+ year old, large and thick S. mitchelliana, which is a leucophylla x purpurea hybrid. This plant makes a large crop of pitchers in the spring and then makes ginormous, fat pitchers in the late summer. The summer crop has green and white initially, but over time, the white intensifies and then the pink and red comes in by the time fall rolls around. The size and girth of the pitchers are outstanding. I have unofficially named the plant "Big Bertha". Father (pollen) plant: S. ‘Legacy’ (S. ‘Leah Wilkerson’ × S. ‘Adrian Slack’) A newer classic. Produced by Brooks Garcia and grown out and selected by Rob Co. Almost solid white lid that has an amazing pink halo. Large, deep red throat blotch that spans from margin to margin. Gets tall and produces more pitchers than S. Lunchbox in the season. Just an amazing plant. 1st picture shows the two parent plants. 2nd picture shows the mother (pod) parent. 3rd picture shows the father (pollen) parent. 4th picture shows an example of the seeds you will get (not the quantity). 5th picture shows an example of how I bag my Sarracenia flowers in the spring. This cross was made in the Spring of 2024 and the seeds were harvested when ripe later in the same year. The cross was done carefully by hand. All manual crosses had bagged flowers to avoid any unwanted pollen contamination by nature. After harvest and drying, the seeds have been stored dry in the fridge to maximize longevity and viability. These seeds have NOT been stratified. You will need to do that yourself. I have been growing Sarracenia for 15 years and my goal is to make quality seeds and plants affordable to anyone that is interested in growing these amazing plants.
