Originally published as a children's book, this is actually a nonfiction account including a great deal of illustrated history, some of which includes: Cape Cod, Nantucket, ships and trains and railroads, Niagara Falls, Cleveland and the Great Fire of Chicago Native Americans and the landscape and points of interest of Colorado, Utah and the Mormons, San Francisco Yosemite and the Cheyenne, teepee building and insight into the ways of Native Americans, buildings of the old west, and much more. This book is 127 years old, rendering it scarce and unusual in G-VG condition overall, with colors still bright, gilt still shining, binding intact, and pages in surprisingly good condition. Cover and page wear to edges, some off setting, crack at title page renders cloth spine somewhat shifty, professional repair a tear across one of the full page plates, bit of creasing and small chips with a tiny "Busby" stamp On the free front end paper. The complete arithmetic, oral and written, "Robinsons shorter course" published by Ivison, Blakeman company New York and Chicago, Daniel W Fish, very good, leather spine, Highly decorated paper over boards, title page verso: copyright 1874, clean, tight, ffep absent, a few pencil marks, edgewear, slight dampstain at bottom of some pages, depicted in photos. Contains diagrams. PATTERSON'S & SANDER'S (2 books for one price): 1. Patterson's Speller Analyzer Adapted to Written Lessons and accompanied by an Exercise Book, published by Sheldon & Company, cr 1875. They may not have done their lessons as this is clean and tight and unmarked save for pencil scribbles on extreme pages and hole in blank endpaper, cloth spine, deterioration at extremities. 2. Sanders' New Speller Definer and Analyzer published by Ivison, Blakeman, Taylor 7 Co, Charles W. Sanders, 1854 edition with quill pen notation of "Bethany School 1872," SHOWING CALIFORNIA abbreviation BUT NOT KANSAS. This one in rough condition but an absolutely fascinating glimpse into history, with old English letters, calligraphy, and "ye" listed as a bonified two-letter word with instruction on its usage.
