Description: 1904 Boekel Brass/copper Diving bell helmet hand air pump firefighter, these pumps were used in many areas, to include shallow diving operations and firefighting Solid hardwood pump handle large tabs on bottom both side to hold pump in place with feet. This pump was well preferred for quite a few reasons the overall length is 27” the piston having a 10” stroke and 2” wide bore it moved a good amount of air with each stroke. The bottom of the 10” cylinder has a 1 way “check valve” entering the 8” wide and 10” high chamber or “volume tank” the check valve allowed the pressure to build up in the tank without being lost in between strokes, in face if you would close the brass valve on bottom of tank you can build up quite a pressure without loss. While in use if for a moment pumping was to stop air would continue till pumping resumes…. Wouldn’t want to wait too long . :-). But you know what I mean . This was a great pump for its time, as time went on it was seen less in diving and more so fire and smoke. Or any other many uses. This pump is in excellent condition for its age. It hasn’t been touched in years, lots of patina . I have made these thing look beautiful in the past , with some time and cleaning It will work as new and look that way too…. However many want it as is…. I have seen a couple types of these pumps. Some with very thin walls etc. this thing is a tank. The real thing. Now available. Any special questions just ask. Thanks. Oh no hose or fill whip as with most of these pumps, they are the one thing that don’t last over time. Not to mention with so many uses of these pumps the hose may have been taken off to use on something else This pump can be put on display as it is. Some buy them to do just that. Others want a project. Doing a full rebuild. Old look or a polished brass new look. We sell them as is. However. For an additional fee we will rebuild and get big pumping like the day it was made. No end to what you can have us do for a price. Or you do yourself. Just like to tell you. These pumps are a great affordable way to have a mechanical pump that was widely used in the diving community …. No end to what you can do with gauges, volume tanks and hook up to your helmet for display or use if you really want to…. Tell me what you’re thinking of doing. Maybe we can help. Feel free to make an offer on anything you see..
