Description: This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Germany but decorated by the Pickard Studio in Chicago around 1905. The artist, Edward P. Mentges worked at Pickard from 1905 to 1910. Both the cup and saucer are signed. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches. Thecup is 2 1/4 inches tall with a diameter of 3 1/4 inches. The set is expertly hand painted with art nouveau poppies in white and shades of pink. Bands of rich gold accent both pieces. The interior of the cup has an iridescent pearl finish. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. Pickard hired the most skilled and talented painters to decorate their porcelains.
