Antique Vintage Wood Shaft Tom Stewart 3 Iron

Description: This item is an antique vintage right-handed 37 1/4" iron. It is a lined face 3 iron. Made by Tom Stewart of St Andrews Scotland. The head is clean and not all rusted. It does have the expected minor play nicks and dings and uniform micro pitting. Please look at the many zoom pictures for a better idea of condition. The shaft is an old hickory. The shaft is straight, I do see a repairable crack, and it has some play at the hosel. All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grip is an old long leather wrap that is loose and in fair vintage condition. 32* loft and a C 3 swingweight. People tell me Stewart irons make great players. If you are considering playing with this club all wooden shafted irons should be re-set prior to play. While I see no issues with the shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These wooden shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball. Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 3-pound box.
