Description: IXO Models Junior 1:72 DDIJ030Bell P-39Q Airacobra Diecast ModelUSAAF 71st TRS, #42-20351 "Snooks", New Guinea1:72 Scale PLEASE READ - all photos shown are the ACTUAL MODEL THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE (these are not stock photos or pirated from another eBay listing!). While some of the models are new (never removed from the box) most of the models that I am selling have been displayed in a relatively dust-free cabinet and all are completely intact (no missing parts) - that is, most of them ARE IN NEAR NEW SHAPE. ALL HAVE BOXES (in most cases they are in good to great shape - if not, it will be noted). I have included numerous photos showing the models from various angles, along with the boxes. I tend to take the photos so they area a bit over-exposed because I believe that increased exposure better accentuates the detail (and any potential flaws). If there are issues with any of the models, this information will be included in this description. A final word - I have been collecting diecast models for many years, always with the goal of displaying them in their full glory. Unfortunately, due to a Parkinson’s diagnosis, I am now forced to sell my collections. If you are looking for a model that you want to keep in the box and put it in the closet to sell as new later, and want the internal packaging to be exactly as it was sent out by the manufacturer, these may not be the models for you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me! Thank you and happy collecting! MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUT THE OTHER DIECAST AIRPLANE MODELS I HAVE FOR SALE! Happy collecting! The Bell P-39 Airacobra was one of the principal American fighter aircraft in service at the start of World War II. Although its mid-engine placement was innovative, the P-39 design was handicapped by the lack of an efficient turbo-supercharger, limiting it to low-altitude work, although the type was used with great success by the Soviet Air Force. In the P-39, Soviet pilots scored the highest number of individual kills attributed to any U.S. fighter type. Together with the derivative P-63 Kingcobra, these aircraft would be the most successful mass-produced, fixed-wing aircraft manufactured by Bell. Bell P-39Q Airacobra Designed as a single-engine high-altitude interceptor aircraft, the P-39 was first flown on April 6th, 1938. The main purpose of the engine configuration-placed behind the cockpit-was to free up space for the heavy main armament, a 37 mm cannon firing through the center of the propeller hub for optimum accuracy and stability. Unfortunately the Airacobra was vulnerable to any enemy fighter with decent high altitude performance, but its rear-mounted engine made it ideal for ground attack since return fire was less likely to hit the engine. The Airacobra saw combat throughout the world, particularly in the Pacific, Mediterranean and Russian theaters.
