Description: For sale is a beautiful original watercolor by the noted American Automobile Artist Charles Munday Provenance: Estate of Edward Hermann (1943 - 2014); American Actor, Director, and Writer and avid Antique car enthusiast and collector. A personal hand written letter from the artist attached to the reverse (See Pics) This watercolor was commissioned by Edward Hermann and was one of the cars in his collection. The painting is watercolor on watercolor paper. It features what we believe to be a 1941 Buick Super Coupe Convertible. Captured and fine detail with a very realistic look to the painting. Munday was known for these realistic renderings of classic antique automobiles, and here he really shines with a stunning example with exception detail. Produced between 1940 and 1942, and then from 1946 to 1948, the Super Convertible-Coupe was part of Buick's larger Super Series, which encompassed a range of body styles. This elegant and stylish two-door Convertible-Coupe showcased Buick's commitment to producing premium vehicles with exceptional performance and luxurious features. Signed on bottom by the artist Condition: THE PHOTIS WITH SOME GLARE. The painting in overall fine condition with no issues. Framed under plexiglass. The frames with some normal wear. He obtained his BFA degree from the University of Tennessee in 1970, and his MFA from the University of Buffalo in 1972, Munday, known for his clean watercolor designs of period automobiles, considered his work to be realistic and expressionistic, but not necessarily rigid. His work engages rather than confronts the viewer. He used the media of watercolor, lithography, serigraphy, and etching. He studied the traditional methods of etching at the University of Salzberg in Germany in 1975. Munday was also a graduate teaching assistant under the art department at Buffalo State College from 1970-1972, and assistant professor of printmaking at Rosary Hill College in Snyder, New York from 1974-75. A member of the Pattern Artists, and Buffalo Society of Artists, he has exhibited all over the country and throughout the Western New York area, including the Albright-Knox, the Burchfield, Chautauqua Art Association, and several SUNY colleges. ________________ Edward Kirk Herrmann (July 21, 1943 – December 31, 2014) was an American actor, director, and writer. He was known for his portrayals of Franklin D. Roosevelt in both the miniseries Eleanor and Franklin (1976) and 1982 film musical Annie, Richard Gilmore in Amy Sherman-Palladino's comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls (2000–2007), and a ubiquitous narrator for historical programs on The History Channel and in such PBS productions as Nova. He was also known as a spokesman for Dodge automobiles in the 1990s. Herrmann was a well-known automotive enthusiast and restored classic automobiles. He was a regular master of ceremonies for the annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and hosted the television show Automobiles on The History Channel. He owned and restored several classics of his own, including a 1929 Auburn 8-90 Boattail Speedster and a 1934 Alvis Speed 20.
