Description: Dedham Pottery Crackleware Rabbit Salt and Pepper ShakersShipping: USPS Priority MailMarking: See PhotosDedham Pottery was an American art pottery company opened by the Robertson Family in Dedham, MA during the American arts and crafts movement that operated between 1896 and 1943. Hugh Robertson, the founder, died of lead poisoning in 1908. He had been the first American studio potter who experimented with new ceramic glazes. Dedham Pottery continued on, managed by his son, producing only dinnerware and remaining commercially profitable for several decades until being forced to close in 1943 due to World War IIIn 1977 Chotsie Starr and her two sons along with local artisans founded the Potting Shed in West Concord, MA to produce reproductions of the original Dedhamware. Like the original Dedhamware, the Potting Shed produces it reproductions entirely by hand. But because the original molds are no longer available, no piece is identical in shape to the Robertons' Dedhamware.
