Description: Early Ming Dynasty Porcelain Flask- this porcelain flask mimics the shape of leather vessels made by the Khitan people. These nomads from the north of China had a dynasty known as the "Liao", that lasted between 916-1125 AD. Ceramic flasks made to resemble leather flasks were known to be made in at least 10th century AD. Excessive glaze drips have been chipped off (see photos) at a later date. The surface of this vessel has retained hard calcium deposits. It has survived in good intact condition and has a very beautifully colored glazed. H 8 7/8"
