Description: Thomas Y. Crowell published this rather high-end volume of LADY OF THE LAKE circa 1888. In a leather binding that measures about 4.25" x 6.25", the text consumes 331 pages, including a rather lengthy Appendix. In addition to the gilded titling and decoration on pebbled leather, the publisher included a frontispiece protected by a tissue-overlay and also used gilt on the text block. Condition:Sound book in at least good condition, especially for vintage (circa 1888). Minor rubs to leather binding, sunned a bit at spine. Text clean and unmarked save for provenance on endpapers. The Lady of the Lake is a narrative poem by Sir Walter Scott, first published in 1810. Set in the Trossachs region of Scotland, it is composed of six cantos, each of which concerns the action of a single day. There are voluminous antiquarian notes.
