Description: Up for bid is a wonderful vintage Halloween postcard. Ellen Clapsaddle, one of the most talented and prolific artists of vintage postcards, has marvelously illustrated an old Halloween superstition: "If a maiden looks in a mirror on Halloween at midnight while holding a candle, the face of her future lover will then appear next to hers in the mirror." In this scene, a lovely young post-Victorian era lady wearing period sleepwear holds a lit jack 'o-lantern as she peers into a mirror. She's purposely positioned the mirror so it will show an image of the man in the picture behind her, probably her lover. The detail on this card is exceptional! Clapsaddle's signature appears at the lower-right corner. Printed in pre-WWI Germany, and published by S.
