Description: Leitz Wetzlar black chrome 2 lug Leica M5 with body cap and manual. Made in August 1971 in the first batch of black M5s. The meter works. The shutter fires at all speeds and seems near the ballpark but it wants to stick open at 1/2 and 1 sec. The shutter curtains do not appear to have any pinholes. The photos show the shutter curtains un-cocked (first photo) and cocked (second photo). The camera shows minor wear from normal use. There is a tiny ding on the corner of the top cover above the strap lug and a small dent on the r/f of the top cover both of which can be seen in the photos. Other than that the camera shows a rather charming bit of "brassing", it was used and loved. The rangefinder works correctly and the viewfinder is bright and clear. The frame lines are bright. The battery compartment is clean with no corrosion. Has the flash port covers which are missing half the time so that's cool. The tab for unlocking the base plate is a little floppy but still perfectly usable. But hey you were going to CLA this beauty anyway right? The manual is in Dutch so Kom bij je slechte zelf Why is the M5 so cool? Because it's not an M3 or M6 that's why. That makes it all the cooler. Stand out from the crowd, plow your own furrow, Leica is not a fashion accessory it's a tool and this is a tool for a serious working photographer who doesn't care what the interweb "influencers" think.
