Description: Lot of 12 Strombus Alatus - Fight Conch- These are abounding in colorful tones of orange shells, commonly known as 'Fighting Conch'. I'm not sure why they call them that, but they are a true conch. These shells range in size from 2.5-3+". As you can see in one of the photos, one of the conch has a bit of coral attached. It is a natural embellishment. The same holds true to some batches of these shells: they may have a 'carrier' of some kind attached- most are simply the beautiful body of the shell. They can be found in the Carribean, Florida, They can be added to any collection, used in crafts, jewelry, etc. You can etch on them or just enjoy the beauty of the ocean. We owned and operated a shell shop on Santa Catalina Island from about 1966 until about 1979/1980. We bought shells from the local divers and collected memorabilia during that time.
