Description: Large Lot Vintage U.S. Postage Stamps 1971-1982 Unused & Never Hinged Plate Blocks; Face Value over $160. Each stamp is part of a block of four or more stamps, with selvage and plate numbers present. Most of the stamps are in blocks of four, though the collection has six, eight, ten, and up to 20 stamps per block. Priced 50% BELOW face value. A family member purchased these stamps expressly for collecting. They are, and always have been, unhinged and have their original gum backing. They have been stored since purchase in a common spiral notebook whose page edges have yellowed (stamps unaffected). Each plate block is held in place with those little gummed corners commonly used to hold photos in old albums, which means the blocks are removable and the stamps still usable. The front of the notebook says it contains 100 sheets. I counted 31 pages that have stamps on both sides, and 3 with stamps on a single side. The remaining pages of the notebook are blank. The oldest stamps, from 1971, are 8-centers. The newest are 20-centers from 1982. In between are stamps in denominations of 10, 13, 15, and 18 cents. The total face value of all stamps in the notebook is well over $160, not counting a few generic ones likely issued between rate hikes. The majority are first-class stamps, but I did see one block of four air-mail stamps (13-centers). The photos show only a few pages from the notebook, but these are representative of the whole. Look beyond the embroidery yarn, which was used to deter illicit photo copying. If you have any questions please message me.
