Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Available for sale is a Marx 6-inch 556 New York Central Caboose mounted on a frame with 8-wheel swivel trucks and one-way automatic couplers. To compete with the 8-wheel cars being produced by Lionel and American Flyer, beginning in 1936 Marx mounted a limited variety of its 6-inch cars onto special frames fitted with 8-wheel swivel trucks. In 1937, Marx began offering these 6-inch 8-wheel cars with automatic couplers. (In order for these couplers to work, the cars had to all face a single direction.) Marx’s 6-inch 8-wheel cars with 1-way automatic couplers were considerably more expensive than the 8-wheel cars fitted with tab and slot couplers and not as many of them were sold.
