Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Gerard de Lairesse' after 'Govert Bidloo'. Gerard or Gerard de Lairesse (1640 or 1641 - 1711) was a very talented Dutch Golden Age painter and art theorist. Govert Bidloo or Govard Bidloo (1649 - 1713) was a Dutch Golden Age physician, anatomist, poet and playwright. He was the personal physician of William III of Orange-Nassau, Dutch stadholder and king of England. Subject: Antique Master Print, untitled. Plate 88: This decorative anatomy plate shows a human skeleton. The skeleton seems to have just risen from the grave at his feet, and has shed the shroud in which it was buried. A grave monument in the left background.Condition: Good, given age. Very good, given age. Small stains in margins. Browning in top and bottom margin, not affecting image.
