Bought as a backup radio while flight training because the rental plane was so rickety I was afraid the panel radios would suddenly die. Unfortunately I ran out of money for flight lessons and never finished my PPL. It has less than 1 hour of usage on it, only from playing around with its features, although I'm not an expert. According to the manufacturer, it measures 5.5" high (excluding antenna), 2.25" wide, and 1.62" thick. Uses 8 AA alkaline batteries (not included) which are supposed to last up to 18 hours. You can obviously also use NiMH or rechargeable Li-Ion if you end up using it a lot and don't want to keep use disposable batteries. Has ability to use optional separate 12v adapter. They sell a lot of other separate accessories through the Sporty's website. Made in JAPAN. A review by Aviation Consumer stated "Sportys offered us the first look at the new $399 SP-400. Unique to this unit is a glideslope receiver, which could save your hide if you had to slide down an ILS with a dark panel.
