Indoors they can be grown year round, and create a glorious display rivaling that of any flowering plant. Zone Hardiness: 8-11 Perennial - Can be over wintered in non tolerant zones. Plant Caladium Mixed Bulbs after danger of frost is over; in the deep South, February and March and later in the North. Plant in a partial shade to full shade location that receives less than 4 hours of indirect sun per day and where sheltered from the wind. Soil preparation: The ideal soil is porous and drains well and yet still holds enough water for the roots. Spread a 3-4" layer of soil amendment, add fertilizer and incorporate together into the soil to a depth of 10". Planting: Plant 2-3" deep and 4-6" apart in rich, moist, but not water logged soil. Water thoroughly at planting. While actively growing, water frequently and thoroughly so that water will reach the roots. Water well during dry spells. Mulch to keep the soil cool and prevent soil from drying out.
