Description: Moonstone cluster single drop earring-vintage When I worked as a travel agent I took two “FAM” trips to northern and southern India around 1990. FAM means discounted travel at a breakneck pace offered by suppliers, in this case JourneyWorld and Abercrombie & Kent. I treasured the bit of free time I had to shop for jewelry in stores recommended by the Taj Mahal concierge desk. The quality of the gemstones is excellent in India and their metal is treated in such a way that it does not tarnish. It looks like silver, without needing to be cleaned for tarnish. I have listed the metal as unknown. What I can tell you is that I react badly to cheap earrings and never had a problem with these. My gemologist has verified the gemstones as moonstones and the red stones as either tourmaline or ruby and so they are priced accordingly. This charming moonstone earring is about 1” diameter. The 7 round moonstones measure approximately 4mm. There are 6 small red stones set at the edge. Due to the design of the setting, my gemologist was unable to verify the red stones but said they were either ruby or tourmaline. I lost the other earring years ago and thought about converting this to a pendant. Then I remembered how seldom I wear necklaces, so I am selling it instead. Please review my photos and email me with any questions. All sales final. Returns not accepted.
