Description: Mrs. Stephens' Illustrated Monthly Bound Periodical1856 - 1857 Half leather bound monthly magazine - Vol. I & II bound in one edition (with one additional month) Description: Looks to be 13 months beginning July 1856 through July 1857 Beginning July 1856, Mrs. Ann Stephens began publishing a monthly magazine with serialized stories, short stories, essays, biographical sketches; slice-of-life sketches, fashion etc. most of which she had written, and many illustrations by J.A. Dallas - a few by Jerome Thompson. This periodical only ran for a few years. The original owner's name, Sophia J. Seeley is gilded on the front cover Biographical info on Mrs. Ann Sophia Stephenshere and also here Condition: Cover is in poor condition. The insides are in good clean condition Front cover is detached and the leather is scuffed to the point that the spine is no longer legible. Back cover is loose. Front cover is faded in a weird pattern, where apparently a smaller book sat on it for many years with part of it unprotected from sunlight. The insides are in good condition, though the quality of papers used in printing varies. See pictures (approximately 80 in all). Size: 10 1/2" X 8" 290 + 290 + 54 pages
