Description: Outstanding old master work on oval tin panel. Subject is a woman of means, most likely Northern European per her heavy layers of flowing garments, light brown hair and dark grey/blue eyes as well as her flower crown. Although unsigned, the work is from a skilled, professional hand and I have no doubt it resembled the sitter like a photograph. The tin panel was fixed to the velvet backing so I was unable to examine it but there’s a good chance it has some writing, perhaps the name of the sitter. The edges have some wear suggesting it was originally in an oval frame, hence the Victorian frame is a later addition. Measures 10.5” x 9.5” overall, 4.5” x 4” sight.
