Description: Rare, original 17th Century Engraving of Holy Roman Maximilian I. The plate comes from the Commentariorum de Bibliotheca Caesarea Vindobonensis Volume II by Peter Lambeck (Petri Lambecii) (Hamburg, 1628 - 1680). The engraving is Plate 32 and depicts Maximilian I (22 March 1459 – 12 January 1519), seated on his throne looking down at a kneeling man. Inscribed at bottom: Iconismus hic pertinet ad Libri Secundi Commentariorum de Augustissima Bibliotheca Caesarea Vindobonensi Caput octavum, et est inserendus infer pag. 966 et 967 (~The iconism here belongs to Chapter VIII of the Book of Commentaries on the Most August Caesarea in Vienna, and is to be inserted into d. 966 and 96)Approx.
