Description: A large, very rare, early 19th century English Pearlware Meat Plate. Decorated with a fanciful Indian scene depicting a spotted deer set in an imaginary landscape. This rather ancient blue and white plate, made in England around 1800-1820, has strong visual appeal, in spite of its somewhat distressed condition - there are two historical chips on the rim and there is some wear and crazing as expected on such an old example.Nevertheless, this wonderful piece of English pottery is a rare survivor in a particularly unusual and delightful pattern. Measures approx. 38.5cm length.
