Description: This rare vintage doll is a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike. This World War II era doll, named “Pat Parachute” by the Charity Bundles for Britain Inc. The doll was designed by Estonian born- American aviatrix Elvy Kalep. It features a painted wood head and body of either stuffed felt or wood with cloth clothing. A Royal Air Force patch is hand sewn onto body. Attached to the doll is a rayon parachute. When thrown into the air, the doll would drift back down. Included is a paper instruction sheet. The original box does show a lot of signs of aging, as shown in pictures. The doll & parachute are in very good condition. All the strings are intact from the doll to the parachute. Bundles for Britain was established in 1940, and donated some $1.5 million worth of knitted goods, ambulances, surgical instruments, medicines, cots, blankets, field kitchens, operating tables, used clothing and children’s toys to the besieged British Isles. These little dolls were air dropped to the children in Britain. This is a great piece of history to own. We bought this at an estate sale many years ago. Now it is time for us to decrease our collections.
