They were soldered in the corner, but only partially. I have painstakingly made these to the original specs and instead of soldering only 1 seam I've soldered the entire facing corner. Instead of lead solder I've used silver solder for a stronger bond. The outside corner has been left open like the original. I am confident these will last years longer than the original. There are holes that should line up with your existing holes, the spacing was taken from an original clock. I do know that the manufacture of these clocks was constantly evolving and may not exactly match your existing clock. The center to center on the side mounting holes is 11.75" Stainless Steel: Like the original these are out of stainless steel, unlike the original they are a number 8 polish. You can either use them like this or use some scotch bright to grain them as some of the originals were. I've tried to make the finish as perfect as possible, but they are not perfect (likely the reason the factory opted to use a brushed finish).
