SWEENEY TODD opened on Broadway in 1979, ran for 557 performances, won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Book and Best Director. It has enjoyed dozens of revivals in New York and London as well as around the world. Also in opera houses, as a successful film and an Emmy-winning PBS production. Sweeney Todd is certainly Stephen Sondheim's most complex score and Angela Lansbury declared the part of Mrs. Lovett to be her favorite role. Playbills are in excellent condition. Playbill binding is still tight and spine is straight, All pages are present. I attended Pace University from 1977 through 1981 and received a BA in Drama. After graduation I moved to Brooklyn where I lived until 1992. In those years I attended nearly 500 Broadway shows. I was also a production assistant and seat filler at the Tony Awards. After many of the shows I attendd, I stayed by the stage door to meet the actors and ask them to sign my playbills. Nearly everyone I asked did so. (Jane Curtain? Really?) In 1992 I moved to Los Angeles and enjoyed a career in Television and Film. I recently returned to New Jersey. I've decided to part with 50 years of collected memorabilia. It's kind of hard to do but it's time. Altogether this is a very nice collection of rare items. I know you will enjoy owning these items as much as I have.
