The influence of these pipes cannot be understated. This example is a monumental Charatan Special. Dating to the 1970s, the present example, sculpted from flame grain plateaux cut briar, and has been carved on a grand scale, measuring in at a substantial 7 3/4 inches in length. The pipe exhibits subtle freehand characteristics tempered by classic English proportion and style.
