It remains in very good condition. The blade is straight and smooth. The socket looks unfinished or perhaps damaged. The stud mortise, the longer slot that's parallel to the bore, appears narrower than it should be, as if the machining wasn't completed. The ring pin is missing and appears to have never been installed. The piece would not be hard to finish.The face is marked “US” and the elbow has a small "H" on the right side just below the socket. I don't see any other markings.The scabbard is in excellent condition. It's not dented and is free of rust or pitting. The majority of the original bright finish remains in good condition. It's the type made after the early 1880s, without the rivet through one of the tabs holding the hanger. The hanger is in very good condition. The leather is firm, not dry, and the stitching is good. I don't see any markings. The overall length is 21 inches.
