Description: If the K-bar is the Doberman Pinscher of combat knives, this one is the Rottweiler. This is my version of an American style combat knife. It is a bit more "beefy" than the K-bar and has a smooth stacked leather handle with a peened over tang on the butt. It has a steel guard and pommel, and includes a Viet Nam era jump sheath. This one is made from a Red Tang horseshoe rasp. These rasps harden up and temper nicely. They are probably something like 1055 steel, very tough. These knives are made for hard use. I make the blades the handles and the sheaths myself. They are not stainless. They are carbon steel and thus, will stain and need to be oiled and maintained. However, they will hold an edge better than most types of stainless steel. I make the blades one or two at a time, hand-grind and carefully temper them. This knife, like all my knives, comes with a cowhide sheath that is stitched by hand with a true saddle stitch. These are old-school, tough-as-nails knives. No frills, no nonsense.
