Description: Up for sale is a beautiful group of four hand beaded vintage Afghanistan Pakistan Kuchi medallions. They are made of glass seed beads. They are a large size, 6" to 8" in width or length. These vintage tribal medallions were handmade by the Kuchi tribes of Northern Afghanistan or Pakistan in the mid to late 1900's. These pieces are known as "gul de peron", or dress flowers in Afghan Farsi or the Persian language. The bead work is in good condition and most beads appear to be intact. The backs of the rosettes consist of multiple layers of cotton, wool, paper, stitched with cotton or wool thread. These medallions were usually used as an adornment on belts, bags or clothing including belly dancing costumes. The word Kuchi is derived from Persian word Kuch, which means journey. Its because the Kuchi people don’t have a specific place to live and they move from one place to other, season-wise. They use to live in cool places during summers and move to hot places while in last days of autumn to pass the winters. Please be sure to look carefully at photos in order to avoid errors.
