Description: Vintage African wooden cooking paddle, from Kenya. This paddle would be used to stir food in a large pot or kettle over an open flame. Its simple and graceful shape is carved of a single piece of beautiful hard wood. This was purchased at an open air market in Nairobi Kenya in 1981 by my Mother. She used a similar paddle to help prepare a cooked banana dish at the home of some Kenyan friends, so when she saw this one she had to have it. This has never been used. There is a slight bit of water damage on the tip, see detail photos. Total length is 28.5". Paddle area is approx 7" long. 3.75" at the widest part of the paddle. Handle is slightly oval, 1" x .75".
