Description: Vintage Game of Life, Classic Milton Bradley 1960's 3-D Version Circa 1981 Here is a vintage game of LIFE in it's classic 1960-80's version featuring the eight 1960's convertibles, Art Linkletter on the $100,000 bills, the "3-D" hills and valleys, the spinning clicker, and much of the original verbiage ("REVENGE: Sue for Damages" "Buy Phony Diamond" "Uncle Leaves You Skunk Farm"....). I always forget that LIFE was first introduced as a parlor game in 1860 by the actual human being named Milton Bradley and has been in continuous play ever since. Interestingly, the original version had Bradley's (Calvinistically) negative consequences for spaces depicting suicide, gambling, jail, ruin, poverty, and the like. He also devised the spinner to substitute for dice since he thought dice were too closely associated with gambling, which he abhorred! Bradley's actual portrait is on the $100,000 bill in this set! The "modern" version was developed in 1960 and revised in the 80's. This particular set has features of both the 60's and 80's version as noted above. Its three-dimensional game board was the first of its kind, and featured those lovely moulded plastic buildings, mountains and bridges. This was a fun tactile game to play! The board and pieces in this set are in fine condition and are stunning in their layout. The box is a bit scuffed, but does feature that arch-typical 80's family game night in process in case you need a kick-start....Vintage 3-D Game of Life, Eight Convertible Cars, 1960's Denominations TOYS & GAMES For children of all ages Toys and Games are synonymous with gifting times: Christmas, Birthdays, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, Easter, Hanukah, Diwali, Grandparents Arriving for a Visit, Father Returning From a Business Trip, Chinese New Year, Eid al-Fitr, Monito Monita, Advent, and so on and so forth.... Interestingly, many of the shoppers who visit this section are adults looking to find something from their own childhood gift memory: That certain Tonka truck, that particular Cootie game, that special Raggedy Ann or Andy, or even their own personal "Rosebud" (if you know what I mean)....
