Description: This vibrant, gorgeous poster in its original condition is super hard to find. There is 1 " tear on the side. Price changed to reflect. Some wear to the edges and slight yellowing in the margins but the colors!! Over all poster is not yellow or dark, (this is just my lighting.) Stunning! Waited 2 years to sell this one. I bought a series of vintage original travel posters from an estate where the owner (a 92 year old gentlemen) had worked in France for many years, for the French national railway. He, (along with his wife whom herself was an artist ) brought quite a few of these travel posters with them when they moved to the states. Bio/info for many of these SCNF travel posters: The history of the SNCF (French National Railway Company) began on January 1, 1938, the SNCF takes over the entire French railway network. The SNCF promotes towns, localities, seaside resorts, ski resorts by calling on the leading poster artists of their time: Paul Colin, Jean Colin, Roger Bezombes, Bernard Villemot, J. Jaqueline, Roland Hugon, Albert Brenet, Jal, Planson, Foujita, Decoux, Linoux, Dali, Savignac. This vintage SNCF poster titled 'The French Alps' is a rare find for any railwayana collector. Produced in 1966, it features stunning artwork showcasing the beauty of the French Alps. This poster falls under the category of advertising/posters and paper railwayana. It was manufactured in France by SNCF, a company established in the country. The poster captures the essence of travel in France and would be a great addition to any collection.
