Description: A factory sealed 1st Edition. The factory seal plastic is slightly torn on back and corners. Measures 11.25”W X 9.75”W Walasse Ting (1928-2010) was one of the most radical and independent artists of his time. His work fused the traditions of Chinese art with the joy of the Northern European Cobra movement, and combined the electric colors of Pop Art with the kinesthetic power of Abstract Expressionism. Until now, recognition of Ting's art historical legacy in the West has primarily been limited to his artist's book, 1c Life (1964), a folio conceived by Ting and edited by Sam Francis, which featured work by 27 of Ting's artist friends, including Roy Lichtenstein, Anger Jorn, Allan Kaprow, Kiki Kogelnik, Joan Mitchell, Robert Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenburg and Andy Warhol. Walasse Ting: Parrot Jungle goes beyond 1¢ Life, reflecting on the greater narrative of Ting's abundant oeuvre, It also provides readers the opportunity to immerse themselves in Ting's world, in which female figures with rainbow-colored flesh are surrounded by flora, fauna and a wild menagerie of cats, parrots, grasshoppers, butterflies and flamingos. It also documents the story of Ting's diasporic life, the formation of his transnational identity and his defiantly bold spirit. Please see my detailed photos as an integral part of the condition description. Let me know if you have any questions.
