Description: You are buying one Waldorf Astoria China Ivory Lamberton Sterling China Gold Star Celery dish platter. These have embossed stars covered with with burnished gold. Originally these were made by using hydrofloric acid to etch the stars into the china. Later a decal resist was fried onto the china glaze and then the gold was applied and fired again at about 1575 F so each piece was fired 4 times. Bisque at 2350 then it was glazed and fired at cone 6 about 2150 then the decal was fired on and it was lined and fired again. 10 1/4" long x 4 3/8" wide and 1 1/2" high & weighs about 17 oz.Note: there is some gold smear on the back--see pictures--when gold is very light it has a lavender cast. Made by the now out of business Sterling China Co in Wellsville, Ohio. Made in USA--Not China
