His initials JF are on the truncation of the head. Letters S and D are mint marks: S, San Francisco; D, Denver; no letter, Philadelphia. The mint mark appears below the center of the wreath on the reverse side. Below each opening is shown the quantity minted. All Philadelphia issues and all coins from 1965 through 1967 show no mint marks, even though they were struck at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. Starting in 1968 the mint mark appears on the obverse near the bow.Clad coinage was begun in 1965. Clad coins have a pure copper core with an outer layer of copper-nickel on both sides. Beginning in 1975, coins with dual dates 1776-1976 were issued for the Bicentennial. There were no quarters dated 1975.No coins are included.
